Matla Steel is a preferred supplier to numerous blue chip OEMs in the mining, rail, energy and engineering sectors. Our 5 000 m2 facility provides production throughput capacity of up to 600 tons of fabricated steelwork per month. Our bay widths are 20m wide, crane heights are 6m under hook and there are multiple cranes with 10 ton lifting capacity. Our drafting and detailing team are able to process 3D drawings and to take projects from concept to completion, all in-house. In addition to our team of coded welders and red seal boiler makers we also offer sand blasting and painting, all on site. The foundation of our offering is built on our ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 3834-2 certification all of which goes hand in hand with our focus on providing our customers with value adding fabrication solutions which are delivered on time.
Our services include:
• Carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, quenched & tempered steel, fabrication of sub-assemblies and products.
• Robot welding.
• Mig, Tig (including aluminium), stick welding and spot welding.
• Painting and Shot Blasting.
• Pickle and passivating of stainless steel fabrications.
• 3D drawing detailing.
• Project management tracking and continuous reporting.

Products fabricated ranges from mining to railway to energy market. Products for the mining sector includes various mining vehicles for above & underground. Also includes structural with platework for feeding, conveying & vibrating equipment. Products for the energy market includes ventilation systems ducting with fans, structural & platework, also storage tanks & vessels. Products for railway includes small vessels for air lines & various types off frames housing brake system for trains.
For the products listed we also offer painting, heat treatment, machining before & after fabrication. We also offer non-destructive testing to relevant welding codes required e.g. PMI, Di-Pen, RT & UT.
Robot welding is the use of mechanized programmable tools (robots), which completely automate a welding process by both performing the weld and handling the part. Processes such as gas metal arc welding, while often automated, are not necessarily equivalent to robot welding, since a human operator sometimes prepares the materials to be welded. Robot welding is commonly used for resistance spot welding and arc welding in high production applications, such as the automotive industry.
For these 3 Welding processes we apply them across various welding code e.g. AWS D1.1 & D1.6, AWS D15.1, ASME IX, BS EN 15614,
Mig welding is our bulk production welding process applied on various s/steel & carbon steel materials where larger volumes off welding can be done in shorter time frames due to the continuous feed off filler metal from a spool, Tig welding is for joints in pipes, for positional welding & mostly on stainless steels & thinner carbon steels. Stick welding is used for vehicles during assembly & where access is restricted for other welding processes.
Shot Blasting is a process which is used to clean, strengthen and polish metals. It is one of the processes of “Abrasive blasting”. Also most of the abrasive blasting is shot blasting (with metal shots) and sand blasting (with sand) only. This blasting operation refers to the operation of forcibly propelling a high-pressure stream of abrasive material against a surface using high- pressure air through a nozzle.
